  You might think you're booking with Aircalin, but they share planes with Air Vanuatu, and if their plane breaks, they take no responsibility and send you to deal with Air Vanuatu. We dealt with a childish back and forth, when our flight with Aircalin was cancelled due to the plane having issues, they claimed we need to talk to Air Vanuatu because it's their plane (despite us booking with Calin.) We went to Vanuatu, they sent us back to Calin. We did this back and forth multiple times for 7 straight hours. In the end we had to pay over $700 because our flight in New Caledonia was missed due to their airplanes failure. The New Caledonia flight was with Aircalin, but they refused to change our flight over for free, despite us missing the flight due to their issue, not our. It was an expensive, awful and stressful experience dealing with Aircalin and Air Vanuatu's childishness. The manager at Aircalin was also very cold and unsympathetic despite our situation of being stuck in Vanuatu due to their issues and not ours. So, fair warning, you may think you're choosing the more 'reliable company,' but no. They don't always use their planes, they often use Air Vanuatu's planes, which are notoriously unreliable, and they take no responsibility.
