  We spent 2 nights in the tree house. Fred speaks French well and made us very welcome. His wife Nancy kindly prepared laplap for me at my request. Everything was well organized, they were always on time to go to the volcano. We got 67,000 VT for 2 nights for 2 adults and 2 children including meals, airport transfers, 2 volcano transfers and a private day excursion. Entrances to the volcano are paid separately. The prices don't seem crazy to me when you break it down. The cabin is 15 minutes from the entrance to the volcano. We had a great stay and would have liked to stay a 3rd night.

  Cannot say much about his lodge but as a driver he is unreliable and quite a poor communicator. We asked him for drive back from the white beach and agreed to a price, and I left our bags in his truck while he waited for some other passenger he was taking back to his lodge. We went about 10 meters over to play with the kids in the village and I came back every 10 minutes to check if he was ready to leave. After the second time, I saw his truck was gone, along with my bags. It was getting dark and we had no way to get back. He left without telling us or anyone around. We had to hire another car who chased him down to get our bags back. Very reckless and indecent.

  We stayed 2 days with Fred at the Tree Top Lodge, I strongly advise against it. It’s a nice place but the prices are just exorbitant, it’s clearly a steal! --There were six of us who stayed there, using the same transport, he didn't offer any group prices and simply washed away! 6000 vt per person round trip from the airport, or 36000 vt! He stressed to us that it was the order of the taxis that decided but by asking other tourists they had group prices in other accommodations, the taxi is free to do what he wants. 2000 per person to go to the volcano (20 min transport) and there were 6 of us as well (12000vt). That’s 48,000 vt over two days! Whether there are six or two, it’s the same price but it’s the same car! No negotiation possible. -He has a tree house with a view of the volcano that he promises to everyone to attract customers and once there, we have to share it. one night out of the two booked, each in turn, the other night in a bungalow and for the same price, no discount! And we've already had feedback like that about him. The same thing happened to 3 other families, only one was unable to use the cabin. -Important, he took us early in the morning at 4 a.m. to go up to the volcano we gave him the money (8000 per person) because the reception was closed at that time, we never got an entry ticket to pay less the second time and the third. We only went up once but another couple came up in the evening and the reception asked them for their ticket, which they didn't have of course, the reception was not aware that we had gone up, so the 8000 in the morning, we don't know where they are! (8000 per person, there were six of us, I'll let you do the math!). He did not show up at reception, he went around to pick up the couple and not be seen. He's a dishonest person, we tried to discuss all that with him but he said it was never his fault. Anyway, just to warn in case anyone would like to go. It's a scam, which is a shame because Nancy's cooking is delicious, but we have to stop taking tourists for cheap wallets. .

  2 nights in July 2019. Fred is adorable but has a keen business sense! His wife Nancy is an artist, she cooks and paints magnificent pareos which are now signed thanks to us! Her daughter sings, we shared great moments with them... The Tree Room is incredible, with a view of the volcano, in exuberant nature, fluorescent green on a black background. Don't miss swimming in the hot springs, truly splendid. We were very sad to leave them...
